Stellenmedia (Pty) Ltd ("we") respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what personal information we collect, why we collect it, how we use it, and your rights under the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA).

1. Scope
This policy applies to:
- The Seekulu mobile application;
- Web portals at https://portal.seekulu.com;
- API services that power the app.
2. Information we collect

Interest tags are used to rank places and content for you only. They are not sold, not exposed as a searchable directory of other users, and not shared with hosts or brands in a way that identifies you.
Enquiries: if you send a host an enquiry with trip details from the app, your email address is shared with that host so they can reply to you directly. It is used only to respond to your enquiry and is not shared with any other host, brand, or third party.
We do not sell your personal information.
3. Lawful basis (POPIA)
We process personal information to perform our contract with the User, comply with legal obligations, pursue legitimate interests such as security, fraud prevention, and aggregated analytics where not overridden by the User's rights, and record explicit consent for policy acceptance.
4. How we share information

We may disclose information if required by law or to protect the safety of the User. Some processors may store data outside South Africa. We use providers with appropriate safeguards and contracts where required.
5. Cookies and web tracking
The marketing site and host web funnels may use essential session cookies for authentication. We do not use third-party advertising cookies in the camper app. If we add analytics on the public website, we will update this policy and, where required, obtain the necessary consent.
6. Retention
We retain account and content data while a User's account is active. If the User requests deletion, we will process such request within 30 days, retaining minimal records where law or legitimate audit requires. Moderation and consent records may be retained longer where permitted for legal defence and compliance.
7. User's rights under the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA)
In terms of POPIA, the User has the following rights:
- 7.1. Requesting access to personal information we hold about the User.
- 7.2. Requesting the correction of inaccurate data of the User via profile settings or support.
- 7.3. Requesting deletion of the User's account and personal information — see Delete Your Account or Data for the self-service in-app steps (campers) and the support-assisted process (hosts and business staff).
- 7.4. Objection to processing by us where applicable.
- 7.5. Withdrawal of the User's consent for processing of personal information, noting that withdrawing consent for core processing may require account closure.
We will verify requests using the email associated with the User's account.
8. Children
The Service is intended for users 18 years and older, as described in our Terms of Service. We do not knowingly collect data from children under the age of 13 without the necessary parental consent.
9. Security and disclaimer
We use industry-standard measures including TLS, access controls, and JWT authentication. No system is perfectly secure and Users are encouraged to report any security concerns or breaches of personal information to [email protected].
10. Changes
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we publish a new version, we will post it at /legal/privacy with an updated version date and prompt Users to re-accept in the app where required by law or our consent process. Continued use after acceptance means the User agrees to the updated policy.
